The weather was very bipolar today. It reminded me of Oregon. When we started out it was pretty cold and windy. Every once in a while it would start to sprinkle but not enough for us to get our rain jackets out. Then it got to a point where the sun was out but it was windy enough to keep us cool. Then out of no where it was very windy and started to rain again. The last 6-8 kilometers it was pretty nice out. We were about 10-15 minutes away from the hostel when bam. It started raining hard. No warning, nothing. We started walking really fast while trying to get our rain gear out, and it just kept coming down harder. By the time Sahra had her poncho out and on it stopped. Just as quick as it came. It was the weirdest thing!
Today me and Lanie made some new friends. We started walking at 6:30 and made it to our first stop in about an hour. On the way to our second break we met an older guy from Scotland. I really liked his accent, but it was kind of hard to understand at times. He was having his luggage shipped to each place he stopped at but since not every town has a hotel he sometimes has to go pretty far. One day he walked 44 kilometers! I don't know how he survived. He was retired so he does a lot of traveling. He's been to New York, Las Vegas, San Francisco, San Diego, and a few more. He " just keeps seeing more places to go on the telly."
Once we were at the hostel we met another guy from France. He told us his name three times but we couldn't pronounce it. It was really funny. He asked our names and we told him, and he repeated them after we answered. Then we asked his name and he answered and it was just silent and I think he could tell we were stumped by the look on our faces. He laughed and said it again slower... It didn't really help. We all just started laughing cause it just wasn't working.
The guy sleeping on the bunk above mine was really nice too. He asked if it was ok if he left his bag where it was and that's when Lanie noticed he had the same bag as me. She showed me and I smiled at him and said we were twins. He came over and lifted my bag and said he'd carry mine instead. I told him it was heavier once all my food was in it and pointed to the side table where it was all laid out. His eyes widened and he was like "Do you not buy your meals?" "No I do. But we were hungry and so we went to the store. We might of went a little overboard." "You were hungry! Ya I'd suppose that would add some weight" Then we joked about it some more before we left to go get dinner.
Overall it was a pretty easy day. The walking wasn't too hard, We arrived at the hostel early enough we could relax the rest of the day. And we didn't have any troubles besides our 60 second rain storm.
