Last night was interesting. We were all settled in bed, lights off, ready to go to sleep when some guy started snoring. And snoring loud! You can't even fake a snore as loud as this guy, it was quite impressive. Me and Mimi were all full of energy after playing soccer outside (With Thomas also, and one more guy that didn't speak English.) As soon as we made eye contact we just started laughing and couldn't stop. We were trying so hard to be quite. Two other guys in the room started speaking Spanish to the snoring man trying to get him to stop. Apparently he didn't like that too much cause next thing we knew, he was up and out the door. After a while someone went out and checked on him. He eventually came back, this time a little quieter.
We woke up early to try and beat some of the heat, so of course it wasn't hot. At one point it even rained a little. Throughout the day it was just kind of humid. Even though today was a shorter day mile wise, we saw some really amazing views. You could look in the fields and see miles of wheat, grape vines, and olive trees. We also got to walk on 2000 year old Roman Roads. We made it to the hostel a little after 1:00
Around 3:30 me and Lanie walked down to the supermarket and it started thundering. One was so loud! I've never heard one like that before! It scared us pretty bad, we jumped and got all wide eyed and just stared at each other. Two other guys in the store that are also doing the walk found some humor in that. We started talking to them, and they asked where we were from. We said Oregon and one responded with "Ahhh I've heard of that one." We got back to the hostel, met up with Mimi and all three of us headed to the kitchen to make dinner. It was pretty crowded so decided we'd do it later. While waiting in our room we met a girl from Philadelphia named Nadine. She was really nice! It was a relief being able to talk to someone who spoke English for once.
After talking to her for a while we all decided we were hungry, so we said bye and headed to the kitchen again. After some looking we found the pots we needed for our pasta. It was a gas stove and we were all too scared to light it, so Mimi stepped up and got the matches. Apparently the gas was on a little high because when she lit it the flames went way up and me and Lanie jumped way back. Everyone in the kitchen started laughing at us. I guess it was obvious we were struggling so an older lady came over and helped us with the second stove. At one point an older guy came up to Lanie and said hers needed more water and that "I'm Italian! I know what I'm doing with pasta!" After that though we were golden! We made our pasta, didn't burn anything, and it didn't taste too bad.
To assure we slept good tonight we all skipped our naps today and we are definitely feeling it. We finished dinner not too long ago so now we are just relaxing on our beds. Each day keeps getting a little easier so that is encouraging. Soon enough we'll be pros!!
Me and Mimi decided we'd go and play some soccer before bed, so we're off to do that. Let's see how big of a crowd we can get this time! :)
